About Us

Handcrafted preserves capture summer’s flavourful bounty for year-long enjoyment.

Owner Debbie McCallum has been preserving fruits and vegetables for sale since 1997. After 20 years produce is still prepared by hand in small batches. Each jar is hand-filled with our handcrafted preserves to capture the bright tastes of the summer harvest.

Our Story

Debbie preserved the bounty of her garden for many years. In 1997 she used these skills to create a few batches of jam in her family kitchen and sold them at local craft sales. In A Jam moved to its current location in downtown Melbourne, Ontario in 2005. A new kitchen was built on site as well as a retail store featuring the full line of In A Jam products as well as a few selections from other local sources.

Our Kitchen

You won’t find any large scale kettles in our kitchen – our products are carefully crafted in pots over a gas stove just as you would at home. Our kitchen is inspected yearly by the Middlesex-London Health Unit DineSafe program.

Produce

Quality is our first priority when sourcing produce for our products. It is important to choose local first and work with many local farmers to source top quality Ontario produce while it is in season. Many of our vendors also carry our products at their farm market.

Family

While Debbie’s watchful eye is crafting her products she is surrounded by her family assisting in many ways. Her sister Sandra assists in the kitchen preparing produce and helping maintain the kitchen while Debbie’s son Jeff looks after the office. Other family members pop in to offer help and lend a hand as needed aswell.
